Job Description
The CAD Technician interfaces directly with all Design & Mfg. Department members, Sales Department, Purchasing Department and the Fabrication Manager; Works with Project Originator to schedule into production and facilitates continuity of processes for interdepartmental interactions. This position has regular contact with other co-workers, suppliers and vendors as it pertains to the commercial, industrial, marine and drilling industry for HVAC.

The CAD Technician performs drafting of drawing designs (2-D and 3-D) used in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilation systems using an Auto-CAD system. Provides primary oversight for construction projects. Serves as point-of-contact between Manufacturing and Sales to schedule all production as well as over the duration of the project.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Draw and develop electrical, duct work, piping and equipment drawings for projects (2-D and 3-D) as per Electrical & Mechanical Designer’s designs.
2. Initiate and co-chair meetings with project owner from the sales department on new projects PO’s to/for Design and MFG department to start any required system design for fabrication shop.
3. Assist with issuing purchase requisitions to Purchasing Department for equipment and material as required on all fabrication projects as per Project Originator’s direction. (Maintains accurate BOM for all projects.)
4. Assures drawing numbers are done sequentially for proper control of documents.
5. Work with Design & MFG department, Project Originator and Fabrication Manager to maintain an effective unit fabrication schedule.
6. Produces “As Built” construction drawings on projects (2-D and 3-D) and generate construction documents for field installation and customer approval.
7. Assist with equipment development, details, bills of material, installation, start-up & maintenance instructions, exploded view parts list, quality and production control and specification sheets.
8. Serves as a contributing member of the Design/Estimating Team reading specifications, participating in system design, obtaining equipment selection, producing drawings (2-D and 3-D).
9. Assists Senior Project Coordinator with: making and maintaining contact with customers, engineers, suppliers and vendors on projects; project realization challenges and contract compliance concerns with all stake holders as may be needed.
10. Assist with maintaining projects within estimated budgets.
11. Miscellaneous duties and/or special projects as may be requested by Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Engineering College degree or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Four years’ experience in the CAD field or equivalent
