Position Summary

The responsibilities for this position include process improvement, quality improvement and customer relationship activities. Candidates with Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Six Sigma methodology experience are preferred. Preferred metal fabrication or stamping manufacturing experience; as well as experience with gauging, GD&T, PPAP, FMEA, and MSA experience. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation to ensure that the company’s and customers’ quality requirements are met on all products, programs, areas, and functions.
  • Reviews proposals for new testing programs, outlines of specific testing conditions, and proposed operating procedures.
  • Measures them against customer requirements and specifications.
  • Reviews quality control manuals and specifications for suppliers of materials and components.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to engineers and quality control inspectors to ensure programs are conducted properly throughout the product development and production process.
  • Reports to Quality Manager about status of internal quality control metrics on a regular basis.
  • Reviews analyses of test results and approves “accept” or “reject” decisions and recommendations for modifications.
  • Interacts with representatives from a variety of functional groups, including design, testing, engineering, purchasing, and all production and inspection personnel in the assigned product or program area.
  • Works with customer and supplier contacts to continuously improve quality.
  • Ability to organize and complete APQP, PPAP, MSA and essential quality related processes.
  • Ability to perform quality inspection function in production environment.
  • Experience with ISO/TS 16949.
  • Ability to program CMM is preferred.
  • Ability to use Minitab to perform and interpret SPC studies.
  • Organize and report external and internal quality measurable.
  • Communicates with customers and completes 8D root cause analysis reports.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering and general knowledge to deal with a wide range of products and processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability as a key team member with the entire quality control team of engineers and inspectors.
  • Verbal and written skills for preparing reports and recommendations for use at all operational levels.
  • ASQ – CQE certification strongly preferred.
  • Ambition - The drive to achieve personal advancement.
  • Autonomy - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulous - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
