Position Summary

Provides purchasing support to the Lafayette plant. Manages the operations of the storeroom facility and is responsible for content and control. Coordinates and supervises effective shipping and receiving functions. Motivates employees to work together and to maintain high level of productivity. Determines and implements improvements in plant distribution processes. Reviews and provides direction for continued cost saving with plant purchases. Position is responsible for inventory accuracy.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities-Distribution:

1. Supervises plant shipping and receiving.

2. Supervises plant purchases and the integrity of the use of i-purchase.

3. Provides a working environment that ensures efficient distribution of quality products.

4. Maintains high level of employee morale and employee participation.

5. Maintains high level of department safety and housekeeping.

6. Administers plant or departmental policy in fair and consistent manner.

7. Recommends changes in size of workforce.

8. Participates and supports with activities outside of department.

9. Monitors and controls accuracy of finished goods inventory.

10. Interprets company policy for direct reports and serves as a role model in the fair and consistent administration of all policies and procedures.

11. Maintains high level of department safety and housekeeping.

12. Schedule / manage scrap sales process.

13. All other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities-Purchasing:

1. Manages and coordinates all purchasing activities required to operate the Lafayette plant, including daily maintenance and operation, contract vendors, and capital projects.

2. Manages and supervises the operation of the Lafayette storeroom and purchasing administrative operations.

3. Manages storeroom inventories and investment.

4. Develops cost reduction programs not only for purchased goods and services but also in other areas of the plant.

5. Manages contracts to maintain the exterior of the plant and grounds. Provides back up for plant engineer to maintain the exterior of the plant and grounds.

6. Provides purchasing support with major Capital projects working in conjunction with Division Purchasing.

7. Prepares specifications and negotiates/bids all MRO purchases below $50,000 as defined on R/A documents.

8. Manages inventories and supervises the ordering of packaging supplies.

9. Manages inventories and orders enamels for the Lafayette Facility.

10. Manages MRO budget for weekly financial review meeting.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or Engineering or related technical field or equivalent amount of experience.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience in purchasing, operations or logistics.
  • Knowledge of purchasing procedures, inventory control and computer applications and operations with ability to work with spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to manage people and be aggressive in the development of innovative solutions to sourcing issues.
  • Knowledge of Excel and MFG Pro


Qualifications Desired:

  • Product and equipment knowledge desirable
  • APS certification or ISM certification preferred.
