Cabana/Snack Bar Expeditor/Food Runner

The Minnehaha Country Club is celebrating our 118th year of operations, and we are currently seeking passionate and team-oriented restaurant professionals to join our team. Minnehaha Country Club operates two full-service, year-round restaurants, as well as a robust on-site catering/events operation. With some forecasted turnover we have opportunities in both our formal and casual restaurants. The positions are available immediately for the successful candidate. Minnehaha Country Club is Sioux Falls’ premier country club, operates year-round and serves membership of approximately 740 families. The Club features an immaculate championship 18-hole golf course and several of the finest restaurants in the region, as well as swimming, tennis, and fitness amenities.

Our Cabana/Snack Bar Expo will report to the Cabana/Snack Bar Manager and assist the pool staff with executing food and beverage service for Minnehaha’s members.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Cabana/Snack Bar Expo are part-time/full-time and have a starting salary of $12.00 hourly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Sets up side station and performs assigned side (prep) work.
  • Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
  • Keeps dining room and bus station areas clean.
  • Assists servers.
  • Ensure all service stations in the kitchen are stocked and ready for service.
  • Ensure plated hot food leaves the kitchen quickly.
  • Carefully matches all food items to correct orders.
  • Carries food trays to correct on the ticket.
  • Maintains cleanliness of service stations in kitchen while ensuring that the kitchen is free from clutter and that the kitchen floor is a clean and safe work area.
  • Ensure that bread, soup, and other food products are available.
  • Ensures that all items in “to go” orders are correctly assembled and labels them by stapling the ticket to the bag.
  • Wipes up spills or drips on the rims of dishes and ensures the consistency of plate presentation.
  • Breaks down and cleans service stations in the kitchen at the end of the shift.
  • Empties trash from areas.
  • Responsible for storing equipment and materials properly and in the correct areas.
  • Inspects equipment for defects, cleanliness or any maintenance that needs to be completed and reported to supervisor.
  • Advises supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
  • Performs clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager.
  • Attends pre-meal meetings as requested by the Dining Room Captain; Dining Room Supervisor; Dining Room Manager; or Outlet Manager.
  • Thanks members and guests; invites them to return.
  • Attends Department meetings as required.
  • Performs other appropriate assignments and projects as required by Club Management.

Knowledge, Experience and Abilities

  • Greet and acknowledge members and guests.
  • Learn members’ names and their special preferences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Able to work flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts.
  • Must have good communications skills and a dynamic, outgoing personality.
  • Good organizational and follow-through skills.

Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • This is a typical professional kitchen work environment, which may be hot, humid, and noisy.
  • Some outdoor work required as dictated by specific events.
