EMT-Paramedic

 

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Category: Hourly | Non-Exempt | Full-Time & Part-Time

Starting Salary: $25/hour (Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience)

Job Site: Foundry - Ranch

 

Job Summary:

The EMT-Paramedic assesses patients and administers care accordingly. This role collaborates with other medical staff and assists with providing direct patient care.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree in related subject preferred.
  • Must have current EMT-Paramedic license.
  • Must have current BLS certification.
  • Experience in a substance/alcohol treatment or healthcare facility preferred.

  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment, data, and advice.
  • Knowledge of industry and trauma-integrated care.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s electronic medical records (EMR) system.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding client care with compassion and discretion. 
  • Be accountable and professional at all times. 
  • Provide support to those in treatment, detox and residential whether physical or emotional. 
  • Assist in the management of the clinical milieu.
  • Maintain awareness of what is happening at the facility with the ability to answer an array of participant questions based on your observations and insights by the medical and clinical staff.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a safe, comfortable, and person-focused treatment environment.
  • Assist clinical and admissions staff.
  • Carry out CIWA, COWS and Vitals.
  • Monitor and/or administer medications, answer questions regarding medications and use discretion with PRN requests.
  • Conduct medication counts. 
  • Assist in coordinating or arranging outside medical appointments.
  • Maintain a high level of communication, participate in shift exchange, discuss pertinent changes in the status of a participant (clinical, medical, behavioral, etc.).
  • Administer Urinalysis (UA) or Breath Alcohol (BA) tests as needed and document appropriately.
  • Identify emergency signals and situations and respond appropriately. 
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, HIPAA, and 42CFR Part 2 compliance. 
  • Practice OSHA safety standards. 
  • Adhere to facility policy and procedures, State & Federal law, and JCAHO and BHA regulations and standards. 


Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Working in a medical environment.
  • Walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, climbing.
  • Must be able to navigate uneven terrain at property.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 
  • Driving in all weather conditions.
