Position Title: Bartender                                            Department: Food & Beverage

Reports To: Assistant Manager

Summary            

The Bartender reports to and is under the direction of the specified Assistant Manager.  The person in this position will be held responsible for proper set-up, service of beverages and breakdown. They will keep the bar area clean and organized throughout the shift. In addition they must follow all laws and club policies. They must treat each member and guest with a warm welcome and great respect.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Mixes, prepares and serves drinks to members and their guests
  2. Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs a manager if continuing service to a member or guest is in question.
  3. Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures including pouring the correct amount of alcohol in the correct glass.
  4. Fills out a chit for each drink served if it is a signature bar. Rings checks into computer if available. No cash is used for payment.
  5. Follows set-up procedures including but not limited to inspecting the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
  6. Maintains bar area and equipment
  • Prepares garnishes, mixes and pre-mixed drinks.
  • Requests additional supplies from a supervisor or manager as necessary and stocks the bar.
  • Keeps records of liquor, beers, and wine to ensure bar stock is at the appropriate level.

Greets members and guests at the bar. Reports complaints to a supervisor or manager as soon as they occur. Cleans bar and equipment at the end of the event including disposing of boxes and dumping of recycled items in proper bins. Attends staff meetings including pre-shift (line-up) sessions as required. Assists in inventory procedures at the end of every function or as assigned by the manager on duty. Makes every effort to learn the members and guests names. Serves drinks to members and guests seated at tables in the absence of a server or if extra help is needed. Position may be moved around to fill appropriate bartending needs around the clubhouse. Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by the Assistant Clubhouse Manager or the Clubhouse Manager. 

  1. Maintain a clean and professional work environment ensuring all equipment and necessary supplies are functioning properly.
  2. Responsible for knowing all daily functions of the Club in correspondence with the Club Calendar in addition to the menu items and beverage offerings we serve.
  3. Receive all telephone calls in his / her specific assigned room or area with proper etiquette, being able to answer Member questions or concerns, as well as taking to-go orders and imputing them in to the operating system for processing.

 

Position Qualifications and Functional Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Furthermore, he / she should possess the following personal and professional characteristics:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • General knowledge of alcoholic beverages to be served
  • Able to multi-task and comprehend multiple orders at any given time
  • Must have good communication skills including understanding and speaking English
  • Held responsible for working all major club events to include Mother's Day, Easter, Club Fireworks Event, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Able to meet the physical demands and responsibilities of the position.  He / she will, while regularly performing the essential functions of the job, be standing, sitting and lifting / moving items or objects over 25 pounds and sometimes lift / move items up to 50 pounds.
