Licking County Alcohol Prevention Program is seeking an IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) Counselor to join our team. The IOP Counselor will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized treatment plans and for clients with mental, emotional, or substance use and addiction problems, including use of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and/or other drugs. Provides comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based services to individuals and families affected by addiction.


Over the years the agency has developed a significant number of new and innovative programs in the community including, but not limited to, the Step One Program at the Licking County Justice Center, the Options 72 Hour Driver Intervention Program, a comprehensive gender-specific women's program that was the first in the county, some of the first treatment programs in the county, an intensive outpatient program, employee assistance programs (EAP), Department of Transportation services, drug-free workplace programs and training for other organizations, the first youth treatment program in the county and other similar services.

As the IOP Counselor, you will conduct individual assessments to understand clients' unique needs, challenges, and goals related to addiction recovery with primary focus on behavioral health. You will also provide counseling, ensuring that programming aligns with the organization's mission and values.


Additionally, the IOP Counselor will:

  • Counsel clients in individual sessions to assist their unique needs regarding substance issues, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, addressing topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, life skills development, and the specific challenges associated with outpatient treatment.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate substance abuse treatment programs for LAPP's General Program.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical and other Agency professionals, to ensure comprehensive and integrated outpatient care.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals. Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives. Modify treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status
  • Learn about new developments in counseling by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.

To be qualified for this position, you must provide proof of valid Driver's License and a state minimum required personal auto insurance policy.


A successful applicant will:

  • Minimum of LCDCII and 2 years counseling experience. Bachelor's or Master's degree with associated licensure such as LSW, LCDCIII or higher preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice in the state of Ohio, fulfilling all requirements of the respective accrediting board.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental, emotional, or substance use and addiction problems, including use of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and/or other drugs.
  • Be compassionate, empathetic, and committed to the mission of behavioral health barriers.
  • Have the ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software such as Zoom, Outlook email, and electronic health records system.
  • Show resourcefulness and collaboration when faced with challenges and think outside the box.
