Summary:

The Home Health Aide provides direct patient care to patients in a home setting who require assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL's); such as bathing, dressing, grooming, light housekeeping duties, and meal preparation. The Home Health Aide will function as a member of the care team under the supervision of the Community Health Nurse or Nursing Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance

Experience: Up to six months of similar or related experience

Education: Must possess one year of study beyond high school with courses related to Nursing, Nursing assistant, or home health field. Completion of an intensive, specialized, occupation related course of study of less than one year may also meet the requirement. This could include military service such as hospital corpsman assignment, on-the-job training with a home health agency or other similar experience. Must have a current BCLS certification. Must have a Home Health Aide (HHA) certificate or be able to obtain the HHA certificate within two months from the date of hire. Must possess valid Kansas Driver's License and be insurable with the Nation's insurance.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Knowledge:

o Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customers and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
o Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
o Knowledge of electronic health records.
o Knowledge of safe patient movement/handling concepts.
o Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques in relation to infection control concepts.
o Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
