Extended Day Teacher

Part-time Position
We are seeking extended day teachers (7:30 - 9:00 AM and 3:00 or 4:00 - 5:30 PM) and individuals who are interested in working a 2-5 days a week. This position is great for college students in education related fields (teaching, counseling, social work, etc).

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain careful supervision for children at all times. 
• Actively participate and supervise children’s activities at all times.
• Arrive on time and be prepared with age appropriate activity plans and materials before the arrival of the students.
• Communicate with a kind, respectful tone and language to children, their families and co-workers.
• Follow basic health and safety procedures.
• Greet families and children in a kind, caring and friendly way. 
• Provide a creative, fun, imaginative and educational experience. 
• Encourage children to work together and resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
• Assist with and daily program setup/cleanup.
• Maintain all required documentation, including daily attendance reports and all other required documentation (i.e., incident/injury reports, etc.)
• Assume other duties as requested.

Teachers and assistant teachers of AFIA will:

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and have a GED or high school diploma.
• Experience working with Pre-k, school age and/or middle school youth; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications 

• 60 College Hours or Passed the Para Pro Assessment (this qualification can be waived for extended day teachers) 
• The ideal applicant will have experience working with children in a school setting.

 Compensation:  Commensurate with experience  ($15-20/hour for part-time)
