About The Job:

Accepts responsibility and accountability for the delivery of care through the use of the nursing process ensuring safety, quality, and continuity of care is maintained. Provides nursing care for medical and surgical patients as assigned, while maintaining professional nursing standards. Directs and guides patient teaching and ancillary personnel to include exercising independent judgment in directing the work of others. Position works closely with various therapies, such as RT, PT, ST, and OT to provide multidisciplinary care to patients. Works collaboratively with the MCRHC Provider team to ensure optimal care is delivered. Position also floats to Emergency Room and Outpatient Treatment Center with experience, as directed by Acute Care Nursing Director.

The Shift: 7am-7Pm Sunday-Saturday including holidays and weekends

0.9 FTE

The Pay: Based on experience.

What We Need from You:

• Assesses patients and identifies physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, environmental, and educational needs.
• Provides direct patient care which reflects use of the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and established procedures. Promotes patient comfort, safety, and dignity.

• Develops a written plan of care through nursing diagnosis which is initiated within 24 hours of admission, reviews daily and updates as Provides oversight to LPNs in developing care plans for their patients.

• Implements the plan of care based on standards of practice, hospital policies and procedures, and patient/family needs.
• Evaluates patient/family response and outcomes to nursing interventions.
• Provides or participates in learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of the patient and family by assessing the learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan to meet those needs.
• Documents and communicates patient information in as accurate and timely manner.
• Assists patient with activities of daily living and nutritional needs.
• Begins patient/family discharge plan on admission and finalizes discharge plans prior to discharge.

Position Qualifications:

1. Education:
2. Graduate of an accredited program in professional nursing.
3. Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa.
4. Experience:
   1. Previous experience in a health care setting is preferred.
   2. ER experience required.
5. Special Skills & Aptitudes:
6. Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider.
7. The following additional certifications are required:ER - ACLS, TNCC, and PALS Med/Surg/OTC - ACLS and PALS

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Demonstrates knowledge and support for the principles of customer relations in daily activities with others.
3. Demonstrates nursing competency to provide care within the assigned unit to the population described in the scope of care.
4. Must have basic computer skills.
5. Completion of a telemetry course within one year of hire.

Who We Are:

Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.
