Project Manager Intern


Qualifications:


  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency in spreadsheet and project management software, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and PDF files.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Promotes, executes, and adheres to the company’s safety program
  • Under guidance and supervision from the Project Manager/Manager, identifies and minimizes exposure and risk by implementing safety standards and quality assurance controls.
    • Actively participates in crew tool box talks.
    • Actively participates in project walks.
    • Never walks past an unsafe / non-compliant act or condition.
    • Produces job hazard analysis as part of work package.
    • Provides recommendations and effectively communicates results.
    • Understands relevant project and government regulations.
    • Conducts on-site material receiving and inspections.
    • Executes requirements of inspection and test plan for assigned operation.
    • Participates in inspections of assigned operation.
  • Performs work on location to gain hands on experience.
  • Under guidance of the Project Manager/Manager, mentor will be exposed to all or some of the following:
    • Develops a detailed, cost-effective project plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources. Includes completing preconstruction work packages and preconstruction site visits.
    • Monitors and tracks progress of the project plan.
    • Assembles submittals for assigned scope of work.
    • Collects project close-out and turnover documentation.
    • Understands drawings and specs.
    • Assists with work package development (research, input, formatting).
    • Documents and communicates schedule progress and quantities.
    • Supports 3-week schedule updates.
    • Reviews the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of Estimating Software.
    • Prepares request for quotation.
    • Tracks bulk commodity vendor orders.
    • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation by documenting daily activities and generating daily reports
    • Drafts effective RFIs.
    • Files project documents efficiently and accurately based on document control process.
    • Provides accurate and timely take offs that are traceable back to drawings.
    • Provides assigned crew with most current design documents.
    • Understands basic entry of estimating data.
    • Ensures that all projects are completed on-time, within scope and within budget.
    • Establishes survey control and job layout procedures.
    • Learns materials and tool functionality for operations
    • Ensures resource availability and allocation.
    • Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
    • Recognizes changes in operations.
    • Schedules, expedites and performs quality checks on material deliveries.
    • Spends majority of time supporting crew operations in the field.
    • Understands and practices construction means and methods for limited operations.
    • Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
    • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
    • Reports to management as needed.
    • Manage the relationship with the clients.
    • Selects tools, materials, and equipment and track inventory.
    • Performs risk management to minimize project risks.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with third parties/vendors.
    • Coordinates and directs construction workers and subcontractors.
    • Tracks project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
    • Meets budgetary objectives and makes adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
    • Develops comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other employees.
    • Exemplifies time management skills to complete tasks as efficiently as possible.
  • Perform other duties or task as required based on company’s needs.
