Offering rate will vary within the listed hourly range above. *Supported by the Department budget & related experience/education*

Role:

The Front Desk Clerk greets people entering the Government Center, communicates with the Tribal Administrative Office, answers inquiries and relays information to appropriate staff, and provides additional clerical support to Tribal Operations, as needed.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Minimum Requirements:

Driving: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.

Experience: Six months of similar or related clerical experience.

Education: High school diploma or GED; A specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program can be substituted for the six-month experience requirement.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or business nature. Developing constructive and cooperative relationships with people outside the organization by representing the Nation's government center via person, in writing, by telephone, or email is essential.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office spreadsheets, word processing and email, managing files and records.
  • Knowledge of computers and office equipment e.g. copiers, scanners, printers, phone systems, 10-key calculator, etc.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and simple formulas.

Skills:

  • Interpersonal skills remain open to others' ideas and exhibit a willingness to try new processes.
  • Dependable-arrive to work on time, follows instructions, responds positively to direction and feedback.
  • Organized-uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans. Accurate, thorough and monitors own work for quality.

Abilities:

  • Ability to enter data with minimal errors.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to adapt to change e.g. work environment, unexpected events, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to learn new software.
