Swim Instructor/Lifeguard

The Swim Instructor/Lifeguard position is a part-time dual role, whose main objective is teaching learn-to-swim programs, as well as surveillance of pool participants, and enforcing pool regulations and water safety policies. Prior teaching experience not required. Must have a current ARC Lifeguard Certification.

Part-time Flex Hours: Hours may vary between 10:30am - 8:30pm

Duties include but are not limited to:

Lifeguard duties

-Maintaining continuous surveillance of people in the pool to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols

-Ensuring appropriate headcount of people involved in a watersport on an hourly basis

-Spotting hazards or potential hazards and taking measures to prevent accidents

-Controlling and reporting unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocols

-Performing rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidents including CPR and AED if needed

- Assists with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents,

-Checking safety of rescue tubes and buoys and perform needed maintenance

- Assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment

Swim Instructor duties

-Teach learn-to-swim programs. Teaching swimming techniques and safety education to new swimmers

-Creating and executing ideas on how to increase attendance in classes

-Instructs or assists classes in fundamentals of swimming as needed.

- Provide a fun and educational swim lesson experience for both participants and parents.

- Provide exemplary customer service ensuring the best swim lesson experience for the participants and parents.

- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with students, parents and facility staff.

- Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings.

- Complete all appropriate lesson paperwork during shift.

- Must have Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
