Shifts Available: Saturday & Sunday midnight-8am or 8am-4pm

About the Role

You will be the after-hours staff member on duty. It will be your responsibility to oversee the entire campus and all people on the campus, including residents, volunteers, and visitors. If an incident occurs anywhere on the campus, you will be the person responsible for handling the situation. You will have significant crisis management responsibilities and must maintain good work integrity and effective communication.


What You’ll Do

  • Oversee residents in the Housing Programs and all areas of the campus
  • Report emergency situations immediately to direct supervisor and document any incidents, emergencies and concerns from residents, donors or volunteers (examples of incidents include any time outside agencies—police, DHS—are involved in occurrences at Our House or physical violence or threats are made)
  • Ensure that residents participate in mandatory programs and refer them to Our House programs (Career Center classes, recovery meetings, drug testing, Children’s Programs, CAFSI, etc.)
  • Communicate regularly with the Housing Team about residents’ needs, evictions, shelter needs, ongoing issues or system changes
  • Ensure that meals are prepared and served
  • Enforce all written shelter rules and additional Our House policies and procedures documenting any violations through the write-up process, including enforcing evictions when necessary
  • Assign chores after each meal
  • Monitor residents’ sobriety and reports and documents drug or alcohol related incidents with the write-up system
  • Ensure that all areas in and around the shelter are clean, organized, and safe
  • Process work orders for maintenance issues
  • Process new intakes and exits of residents and filling out all required paperwork
  • Greet and orient volunteers, including meal serving groups, to the facilities and to the needs that they are there to meet
  • Document donations and volunteers using a data collection system (contact info, what was given/volunteer project, date, value)
  • De-escalate conflict situations to ensure safety
  • Attend all mandatory weekly staff meetings prepared and on time
  • Conduct other duties as assigned to fulfill Our House’s mission


What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma is required
  • Social services experience
  • At least 2-3 years working in a program or organization serving individuals in a residential setting
  • Conflict resolution and crisis management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative spirit
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven work, and self-direction


Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • COVID-19 vaccination required or must meet the legal guidelines for an exemption
  • Must be able to pass criminal background checks, child and adult maltreatment registry checks, sex offender registry checks, and a pre-employment drug screen
