Job Title: Director of Security
Overview: The Director of Security plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, and hotel property. They are responsible for developing and implementing security protocols and procedures to mitigate risks and maintain a secure environment within the hotel premises. Additionally, they oversee security personnel, manage security technologies, and liaise with law enforcement agencies when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement security policies and procedures to safeguard guests, employees, and hotel assets.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
- Manage a team of security personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless integration of security measures into daily operations.
- Monitor surveillance systems, access control systems, and other security technologies to detect and respond to security threats.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and guest complaints, taking appropriate action to resolve issues.
- Maintain relationships with local law enforcement agencies and emergency responders, collaborating on security matters as needed.
- Develop and conduct security awareness training programs for hotel staff to enhance security awareness and preparedness.
- Stay informed about emerging security threats and industry best practices, adapting security strategies accordingly.
- Prepare and manage the security budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources while meeting security objectives.
- Investigate security breaches, thefts, and other incidents, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to hotel security.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) are preferred.
- Proven experience in security management, preferably in the hospitality industry at the director level.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of security technologies, such as CCTV systems, access control systems, and alarm systems.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to hotel security (e.g., fire codes, OSHA regulations).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform security duties, including patrolling the hotel premises and responding to emergencies.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite and security management software.
