Paint Manufacturing Engineer

Ottumwa, Iowa - Full Time

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at John Deere's facility in Ottumwa, IA. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will plan, coordinate, and perform manufacturing engineering work for a project or process. Operate in a team environment within either the enterprise product delivery process or the enterprise order fulfillment process. At this level, projects are of limited scope and responsibility; work plans and decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors and/or managers. May assign coordinate and review portions of the work for support personnel and contractors.

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.

Duties:

  • Completes System Checks for D27 and D28 to include Washer Activities: Washer PH, Temperature (Ignition tracking and alarm signals out of bounds), Concentration, Conductivity, Nozzle evaluation (could be added to maintenance if needed), counterflow monitoring (remove task - get alarm on PLC), RO System function - monthly check for hardness/could be added to monthly maintenance PM for both D27/28.
  • Load non-PLC tracked measures for pretreatment into Ignition.
  • Make chemical adjustments to washer stages.
  • Coordinates changing chemical totes as needed.
  • Calibrate PH and conductivity meters.
  • Paint Checks: Verifies P-Mix mix ratio, checks paint plumbing pressure to identify any leaks prior to quality issues or downtime - maintenance does this now.
  • Checks Day tank viscosity in D27.
  • Monitoring Chemistry in D27 Swimming pool and PH.
  • Paint Quality Checks: Film Build checks to ensure appropriate paint quality and thickness.
  • Takes gloss readings and follows up on findings.
  • Publishes the FPY by area PowerPoint to the Paint Ops Team.
  • Ovens: Runs data packs through oven in both departments to ensure adequate oven temps.
  • Decal/Pick-to-Light.
  • Updates decal inventory.
  • Conducts quality investigations on decal related issues.
  • Templates for decals in the factory.
  • Hang methods in D28 working with ETEC and completing on their own.
  • OMS/JDAAT support and keeping up to date.
  • EMS support as guided by Paint ME.
  • Interface with paint contractors.
  • CI Projects.
  • Daily Paint ME support - investigations, resolution (process, Env, Safety, etc).

Requirements:

  • Creo/training, laptop, OMS'/FIA, JDAAT training.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level.
