JOB DESCRIPTION

This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for operating grinders and related tools that remove excess material from fiberglass surfaces.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Operate grinding equipment; including but not limited to hand grinders, air tools and bandsaws.
  • Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding standards are met.
  • Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices.
  • Select machine tooling to be used, using knowledge of machine and production requirements.
  • Lift and position workpieces manually and secure them on machine tables, and other work benches, using clamps.
  • Measure workpieces to maintain precision.
  • Follow machine and hand tool safety protocols.
  • Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, using knowledge of machine operation.
  • Maintain stocks of machine parts and machining tools.
  • Work with Production Manager when equipment repairs or replacements are needed.
  • Reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operation to the Safety Department and Production Supervisor and Manager.
  • Performs inventory for area quarterly.
  • Maintains a level of output that will minimize production delays.
  • Communicates effectively with other workers to coordinate workflow.
  • Assists other individuals in any department when needed.
  • Assists in housekeeping items and clean work area daily by sweeping and putting away tools and other items.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
  • Experience with hand tools and measuring devices preferred.
  • Math skills including good understanding of fractions.
  • Ability to lift, up to 50 pounds.
