Position Summary:

As a Teller, you are the frontline banking professional responsible for handling customer transaction and providing basic financial services. Responsible for demonstrating high accuracy in all transactions. Build and maintain high quality customer relationships by recognizing opportunities and making referrals. Knowledgeable of all Bank products and services in order to maximize account relationships with new and existing customers. Work effectively with customers in person, through the drive-thru, and over the phone. The schedule for this position is Monday- Friday 8 am- 5 pm with rotating Saturdays 9 am- 12 pm.

What will you do:

Accountabilities

Sales & Service

Execute the Sales and Service program of the department when working with customers.

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and promoting a positive banking experience for every customer.
  • Engage with customers by asking questions and utilizing active listening skills to fully understand customer needs.
  • Process customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and fund transfers, cashier’s checks and change orders, accurately and efficiently. Assist customers with Safe Deposit Box access.
  • Maintain and balance cash drawers, ensuring that they have the correct amount of currency and coins at all times.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge and understanding of the bank’s products and services to assist customers with their inquiries and cross-sell when appropriate.
  • Efficiently utilize banking software and computer systems for processing transactions and accessing customer account information.
  • Develop an understanding of how their role fits in to the strategic plan of the bank and their department.
  • Strive to meet goals that have been set for them and for their overall team.
  • Represent the bank in a positive manner in their community and encourages prospects to become customers.
  • Deliver world class customer service by exceeding customer's expectations and building brand loyalty.

Quality

Follow guidelines, policies, and procedures of the bank to keep errors to a minimum.

  • Complete all financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure all transaction records and paperwork are accurately completed and comply with banking regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Follow security procedures to protect bank assets, customer information, and maintain a secure banking environment.
  • Exceptions are well thought out and documented with proper approval.
  • Errors are identified quickly and remedied efficiently when they occur.
  • Reconcile cash drawer and balance all transactions as part of end of day processing.
  • Prevent fraud by following policy and procedure and by using good judgement and discernment to identify suspicious or altered negotiable instruments.
  • Use solid judgement when making decisions and keeps the bank's policies, procedures, and reputation in mind.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable banking regulations and security measures.
  • Ability to uphold strict confidentiality policy.

Branch Specific Tasks

  • Vault Teller operations.
  • Process Credit card payments.
  • Process Saving’s Bond Redemptions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma required. Relevant work experience or a combination of education/experience that would enable incumbent to meet accountabilities and required competencies of the position. Cash-handling, sales and service experience preferred.
