Job Description
Position Description: Overview:
This employee provides a variety of service functions, including, but not limited to, processing savings account, checking account and loan transactions, cashing checks, and selling cashiers checks and money orders. This employee will also routinely perform Personal Banker functions. CSR responsibilities will be most of the requirements for this position with Personal Banker duties included as necessary. All employees positively contribute to the success of Shelby State Bank by assisting fellow team members and branches. All duties will be performed in an effort to promote team-work within the office and the entire organization.
Responsibilities and Results:
\tWill complete 3-week CSR Training course before beginning work in their hiring office, as well as any additional training assigned by their supervisor.
\tWill complete 3-week Personal Banker course.
\tWill assure customer satisfaction by representing the bank and its products and services to the customer in a courteous, professional manner.
\tWill provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service.
\tMay be asked to attend CARE Development customer service training.
\tReceives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement, negotiability, and funds availability, and enters the transactions through an on-line teller terminal. Maintains and safeguards own cash balances within security guidelines.
\tProcesses credit card cash advances using on site authorization equipment and enters the transactions through an on-line teller terminal.
\tCash checks and processes withdrawals from savings and checking accounts after verification of signatures and account balances, according to the Shelby State Bank check cashing policy. Inspects all checks bonds, money orders, savings withdrawals, etc. for negotiability. Obtains proper approval as required.
\tMay cross-sell all bank products, as well as make referrals to the financial advisor, bank-owned insurance agency, and any other current or future subsidiaries of the bank.
\tAssists customers with all their financial needs and cross-sells products by being knowledgeable in all services offered by the bank.
\tDevelops and maintains good relationships with customers and co-workers.
\tMay help customers decide what types of products or services would best suit their needs.
\tMay open new deposit accounts for customers using the BPM documentation system and Navigator processing system. Accounts will include all checking and savings accounts offered by the bank.
\tMay deal with difficult or irate customers in resolving issues and problems.
\tMay make changes to customer accounts with proper documentation using the BPM documentation system and Navigator processing system.
\tMay research customer inquiries regarding accounts and transactions.
\tEscorts customers to their safe deposit boxes using proper signature controls.
\tAccepts stop payment orders from customers.
\tAccepts change of address information from customers using proper documentation.
\tMay be given supervisor override authority in their office to be determined by branch supervisor.
\tMay be trained to accept loan applications to be approved by the branch supervisor.
\tMay be asked to assist in training new employees as required.
\tMay assist CSRs in balancing daily transactions, verifying tickets, counting cash, daily balancing of branch and complex work-related matters.
\tMay perform monthly audits as instructed by supervisor.
\tPrepares form letters and may compose and type other letters to customers regarding inquiries into transactions directly affecting them.
\tPerforms related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
\tHigh school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
\tPrior cash handling experience preferred.
\t1+ years of customer service experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
\tAbility to operate standard office equipment including an adding machines and computer.
\tGood math, written and verbal skills required.
\tProficient using PC, via keyboard/mouse, and various software applications.
\tDemonstrated ability to maintain integrity and privacy of confidential information.
\tAbility to work well under pressure and quickly assess and respond appropriately to questions.
\tAbility to adapt to change and learn quickly and multi-task.
\tGood organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, excellent communication skills.
\tAbility to work as contributing member within the team.
\tResults driven, self-starter.

\tEmployee will adhere to the Shelby State Bank Professional Business Attire requirements.
\tInterpersonal skills to represent the bank in a positive way in dealing with customer transactions and interaction with co-workers.
\tMay be asked to travel to other offices to work as needed.
\tWill attend branch staff meetings and bank employee meetings as required.
\tWill routinely perform both CSR duties and Personal Banker duties simultaneously as necessary, with CSR duties being the majority of the requirement.
Working Conditions:
\tMinimal discomfort experienced from noise, heat, dust, or other causes.
\tSmall and confining work area.
\tExposed to a potentially hazardous situation in the event of a robbery. Employee will receive detailed training, instructions, and procedures to be followed to minimize this risk.
\tScheduling is at the discretion of the supervisor and may include Monday through Saturday in variations.
\tRegular and on time attendance is required.
