Product Engineer

Job Description:

This individual will create drawings and 3D models by reverse engineering OEM refuse products in accordance with OEM requirements and company standards. Included in the design process are responsibilities such as: performing design calculations, developing, and releasing drawings and 3D models of new and revised products, and developing product specifications and BOMs, among other responsibilities. In addition, the Design Engineer will help coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products, interfacing closely with Operations, Sales, and Customers to define requirements and deliver cost effective products to meet these requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reverse-engineer OEM refuse parts and create 3D models and drawing packages.
• Create 3D designs to support conceptual and production level activities as needed to satisfy customer feedback and requests by the product development team.
• Identify materials utilizing PMI scanners and hardness tester.
• Produce production drawings and specifications.
• Produce Sales drawings for customer approval.
• Create complete Bills of Material (BOMs)
• Release products in accordance with company processes
• Maintain product data & documentation within PDM & ERP
• Design considering manufacturability and cost effectiveness
• Conduct research and create design concepts/proposals for projects
• Use AutoCad (2D) & Inventor (3D) for designs as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent

• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD Platforms
• Design experience in AutoCAD/Inventor is a plus

• Minimum of (3) years of work experience in a manufacturing operation, preferably one involving metal fabrication
• Experience in the refuse industry is a plus
• Experience utilizing a 3D scanner to generate CAD models is a plus
• Experienced in using Finite Element Analysis is a plus
• Knowledge of Machining, Welding, Fabrication and/or Waste Industry experience a plus
• Must possess an attitude of safety in all aspects of the job

• Proficient with typical PC office applications, including MS Office
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
