Job Summary

This position is responsible for landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. For assisting and supporting the required maintenance necessary to maintain curb appeal and the overall appearance and quality of the property.

Performing a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: weeding, trimming, and planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler repair during the growing season. Responsibilities also include snow removal on sidewalks during the winter season.


Job Duties/Responsibilities

Daily Responsibilities:

 

  1. Perform daily maintenance as directed by the Property Manager.
  1. Perform maintenance, as required, to have apartments in a move-in condition on a timely basis.
  1. Perform work orders as required.
  1. Become familiar with all company policies and procedures as well as community policies applicable to your particular property.
  1. Assist with on-call duties.
  1. Coordinate all major maintenance jobs with your Property Manager and Regional Maintenance Manager.

 

Spring/Summer Season

Grounds:

  1. Physically walk the properties on a frequent basis and remove litter, debris, cigarette butts and pet droppings from the grounds.
  1. Care for established lawns by, weeding, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
  1. Report issues with the irrigation systems to Management.
  1. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters. Free of debris, overgrowth, weeds.
  1. Dumpster areas. Transfers trash and other items left outside of dumpster into dumpster. Pick-up and sweep area.
  1. Assist in maintaining a safe environment by taking note of obstruction in breezeways, lights that need to be replaced, suspicious activities, and unusual smells or sounds.
  1. Read and abide by all company policies and procedures and community policies applicable to your specific property.

 

Fall/Winter Season

  1. Physically walk the properties on a frequent basis and remove litter, debris, cigarette butts and pet droppings from the grounds.
  1. Assist with fall cleanup keeping walking areas clear of leaves, debris providing a safe passage.

 

Snow removal – expectation is to have a clear path for residents to safely walk and drive through the property in the morning.

  1. To include:
    1. Snow to be removed from walks,
    2. driveways, and
    3. parking lots – supplementing snowplows – moving piles, snow between vehicles.
    4. spread salt/sand or deicer in all areas residents may access.
  1. Dumpster areas. Transfers trash and other items left outside of dumpster into dumpster. Pick-up and sweep area.
  1. Assist in maintaining a safe environment by taking note of obstruction in breezeways, lights that need to be replaced, suspicious activities, and unusual smells or sounds.
  1. Adhere to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
  1. Perform as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  1. Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  2. As a mandated reporter, follows all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect.
  3. Ensures regulatory, COA and Catholic Charities policy compliance on each property.
  4. Performs related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.



Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below.  These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job. 

 

Requirements: Must Live-on site, Apartment provided.

 

Education/Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must have a High School Diploma or a General Education Degree.  Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes.  Demonstrated experience performing janitorial duties.

 

Certificates/Licenses:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a Driver’s License and the ability to drive for work use. Must successfully pass background check as applicable to position.


Physical Abilities:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly stand, climb, walk, hear/listen, talk
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop, kneel
  • Occasionally sit, crawl
  • Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses, ability to focus

Workplace Environmental Conditions

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will be:

  • Noise Conditions: exposed during a shift to constant or intermittent sounds at moderate to loud levels of sound dependent upon the activities of the Shelter.

  • Atmospheric Exposures: exposed to dusts, fumes, vapors, or mists.
