More than half of our job openings are filled by internal promotion, and we encourage TEAM Members to gain a variety of experiences across different functional groups.Job DescriptionPay Range $147,000 to $173,000 per yearThe Director Transportation leads and coordinates all activities of the Transportation department to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities and personnel while providing, on-time deliveries and great service to our customers, while managing to our distribution expense budget. This position will have the following responsibilities personally or through subordinate managers and supervisors.RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct and manage the transportation department activities including our dedicated fleet services, internal shuttle, and outside carrier activities.Champion our company “we care” culture when working with TEAM members and customers.Work closely with other departments including Customer Service, Inventory Control, Supply Planning, Warehousing, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to provide on-time deliveries, excellent service levels in the most cost-effective manner.Define, execute, communicate, and achieve KPI’s within the department.Direct and manage the transportation department in routing, scheduling, and transportation for all Foster Farms products shipped from and between Foster Farms facilities, outside cold facilities, and the delivery of all finished goods shipped throughout the United States.Position will be directly responsible for the development of the annual transportation expense budget and be held accountable for the budgeted numbers.Responsible for freight and product handling spend developed during the budgeting process and working with the team to achieve at or below financial objectives.This position will collaborate with Procurement Team in selection of contract carriers, through our RFP process, based off the best rates and service.Oversee and hold accountable our 3PL transportation partners to deliver the most cost-effective solution.Ensure that our dedicated fleet service is meeting the requirements of the contract for customer loads, backhauls, and cost.Identify and implement cost savings and continues improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain.Ensure all TEAM members are utilizing the transportation management software to optimize load building and the tendering of loads based off our set criteria.Hire, manage, and develop all Transportation staff members. Ensure Managers and Supervisors have skills needed to perform their jobs and develop employees that have a desire to move up in the organization.Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the areas within transportation. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.Champion the company safety culture throughout the transportation department by conducting monthly driver roundtables and transportation safety committee meetings, safety walks, and investigations.Develop and establish SOP’s for both administrative and operational procedures throughout the Transportation department to ensure all rules and regulations are met, to include but not limited to DOT, FSMA, and CARB.
