Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing back-office accounting operations, conducting financial analysis, maintaining cash flow reports, and preparing fiscal year-end schedules for audit review. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial accuracy and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of general ledger accounts monthly to support financial statements.
  • Manage fringe benefit maintenance and review general ledger liability accounts.
  • Prepare the Cost and Financial Report (CFR) annual report and gather necessary data.
  • Oversee cash receipts and ensure proper recording and reconciliation.
  • Supervise analyses related to special events and projects.
  • Maintain daily cash position reports and summaries of online banking activities.
  • Prepare year-end audit schedules and assist with the preparation of IRS Form 990 worksheets.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer on special projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of nonprofit general ledger accounting experience, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong ability to manage a small team, handle multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in gathering, interpreting, and utilizing data to create accurate reports.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with General Ledger software, preferably Sage Intacct for Nonprofits.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
