Primary Function:

The Training Coordinator assists the Education and Training Manager in the day-to-day operations of a nationally recognized electrical apprenticeship program, pre-apprenticeship program as well as continuing education and safety-related training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·       The Training Coordinator ensures classrooms and labs are organized and supplied for evening instruction. Maintains an inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the school year.

·       Coordinates with the Education and Training Manager and Instructors to design, construct, and equip teaching labs. Ensures labs are fully operational and supplied.

·       Assists the Education and Training Manager to develop a preventative maintenance plan for the facility’s mechanical and electrical systems and premises. Ensures the facility is operationally sound, safe, secure, and presentable. Identify required maintenance and repairs and either initiate work or schedule outside contractors. Supervise work performed. 

·       Maintains a relationship with IEC members and partners to secure supplies, materials, and equipment, negotiating favorable terms and conditions.

·       May assist in weekend training classes.

·       Participates in chapter-hosted events including skills competitions, annual graduation ceremony, golf-outings, etcetera.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must have a High School degree and at least four years’ construction experience as an Electrical Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and facility operations are also required. General repair skills are helpful.   

Must have planning, organizing, communication and interpersonal skills. Schedule flexibility is essential. During the school year, August through May, the Coordinator must be present while school is in session, between noon and 9:00 p.m., usually four days a week. (Saturday training and events are scheduled during the day.)  During the summer months, the schedule will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds 30 feet.
