Nurse Practitioner

Avery Partners is looking for a Nurse Practitioner that is open to part time or full time hours. This practice is open Mon-Thurs. It serves the uninsured/homeless community in the area. They are mostly adults suffering from COPD, diabetes, and hypertension. This office does not offer any benefits because it is a non profit practice. The pay is set at $50/hr. 

Job Duties:

• Conduct preventive health care assessments, order and interpret laboratory tests, prescribe appropriate treatments/therapies and provide education.  
• Diagnose and treat chronic, acute or episodic illnesses. 
• Conduct physical examinations, perform screening and order laboratory tests.
• Interpret patient history, symptoms and physical findings.
• Prescribe medications 
• Assist in the management of medication inventories in the clinic, including ordering, counting and distributing.
• Open and close the clinic as needed, following established procedures.
• Patient Education- giving them goals to help 
• Provide coverage in the clinic when other staff are not present, including but not limited to making appointments, filling pill bottles, taking vitals, administrative tasks.
• Recommend new programs to benefit patients.
• Answer patient phone calls or voicemails, manage refill requests.
• Work with paper charts at this time.
• Participate in clinic fundraising efforts.
• Participate in telemedicine as needed.
• Direct staff RN or volunteers when medical questions arise, pursue advice from physicians as needed.
• Demonstrate multi-cultural sensitivity and experience or interest in working with underserved communities.
• Help patients overcome obstacles to better health through advocacy, health education and encouragement.
