CNC Operator Job Description

Responsibilities:

The CNC operator is responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and operation of one or more CNC machines. This includes mills and/or lathes. The Operator must safely operate these machines while adhering to all company procedures and policies.

Safety:

· Attend weekly safety meeting.

· Immediately report unsafe conditions to supervisor.

· Maintain a clean work area and machinery.

· Complete all required safety training.

· Identify and help eliminate safety hazards.

· Have a “Safety First” mindset.

Quality:

· Know and understand all work instructions and procedures.

· Read and understand our Quality policy.

· Report all Non conformances to supervisor.

· Complete all required inspections.

· Complete required documentation including but not limited to inspection reports.

· Ensure measuring equipment that requires calibration is up to date and has proper labels.

· Help reduce scrap and rework.

Production/Requirements:

· The operator is responsible for meeting daily production goals (KPIs) on the CNC machines that are assigned to them.

· Set-up CNC machines for production.

· Measure parts against drawings and perform all in-process inspections including but not limited to 1st article inspections.

· Load and unload parts into machines using overhead cranes.

· Deburr and remove sharp edges for machined parts.

· Read and understand drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.

· Understand tooling and tool life requirements and change as necessary to ensure quality parts are repeatedly being produced.

· Verify Heat numbers on raw materials.

· Load and verify program numbers are correct according to the job documentation.

· Ensure proper turnover/ pass down is completed by communicating to next operator.

· Help identify and eliminate bottlenecks.

· Follow the daily production schedule and batch WOs as needed to reduce the number of set ups on machine.

· Select and secure proper jaws and holding fixtures.

· Minimize machine downtime.

· Communicate all machine maintenance needs to supervisor.

· Cross Train as needed.

Qualifications:

· Strong Verbal communication.

· Strong sense of urgency and accountability.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Ability to interpret blueprints and drawings.

· Proficient math skills.

· Knowledge of machine cutting tools.

· Ability to stand up for up to 10 hours a day.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs.

· Programming software experience a plus.

· Previous manufacturing experience a plus.

· Bilingual a plus.

· Dedicated to positive workplace.
