Staff Accountant

HK Lighting has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic self-starter who thrives in a startup like environment. Our team is grounded in principles of learning fast, focusing on our customers, and quickly adapting to delivering on new opportunities. You will work collaboratively with organizational leadership at both HKL and our sister company, DMF. This position will report to the Director of Operations with a dotted line to the head of Finance at DMF and will be a key player in improving the finance function.

This is a 100% in-person position at the Thousand Oaks office. At the start of employment, there will be a minimum of 5-day required training at the DMF Carson office.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Accounts Receivable – Collection efforts by email and call
• Daily Sales Invoicing
• Post incoming payments
• Review General Ledger Accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries.
• Process all Accounts Payable. Reviewing and reconciling invoices using 3-way match to properly match invoices to purchase orders and goods receipts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing.
• Responsible for fixed asset and intangibles reporting including recording acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and amortization. Maintain support schedules.
• Posting and reconciling Monthly, Quarterly and Annual accruals.
• Perform account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.
• Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
• Analyze daily operating performance and cost of goods sold
• Process new customer credit applications and assists with suggesting and assigning credit limits.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Protects Organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5-7 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment and knowledge of Cost Accounting and Cost of Goods sold analysis is required.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Accounting software programs. Experience with QuickBooks and Oracle a plus.
• Keen attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Excellent problem-solving.
