Position Title: Global Product Line Manager; Cabled Backplane Systems

Location: Valley Green, PA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a high energy Global Product Line Manager to join our team located in our Etters, PA office.

The Global Product Line Manager will be responsible for the full P&L of the existing Cabled Backplane Systems portfolio, including growing revenue and driving the development of new products, markets, and customers. The candidate will work closely with the global Amphenol sales team to identify, develop, and capture business opportunities worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a strategy to launch and grow the product line, including setting the strategic vision for the product line, defining and executing product roadmaps, translating market/customer needs into product definitions/requirements and developing go-to-market strategies
  • Drive new business development in new markets and customers for the product line and expanding opportunities in Amphenol’s existing customer base
  • Work closely with global sales, field application engineering and marketing teams to develop tools and support material to facilitate new design wins
  • Drive product training and sales promotions to gain new opportunities
  • Understand current industry applications and map future industry trends and translate into a product plan and roadmap
  • Analyze competitors and competitor products. Identify and implement actions to outperform competition from a technology and commercial perspective
  • Work with global cross-functional teams such as engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to drive the growth and customer satisfaction of the assigned product line, including value engineering initiatives, customized designs to meet customer requirements, managing quality issues, etc
  • Understand customers’ technology needs, strategic direction and develop/execute a plan to ensure the Cable Backplane Systems team is positioned with the right product, at the right time, with the right pricing strategy to meet the customer’s needs
  • Think and act as a business owner, forecasting bookings/revenues, pricing strategies, performing competitive analysis, and evaluating key capital investment ROI.
  • Own the business plan for designated product family through:
    • Life cycle management/rationalization, PCNs
    • Cost, pricing and margin management
    • Capacity planning management
    • Involvement in NPD and Product Extension projects
    • New business opportunities
  • Initiate capital justification for new product development and extension by rationalizing investment versus business potentials, risk analysis, and payback optimization
  • Fully target KPIs for sales revenue achievement, product margin improvement on cost reduction, design win, and shortening response time to quote
  • Attend industry events to promote the product and assist in developing marketing material
  • This position requires local and international travel, including to Asia, for customer visits, product development meetings, and factory visits

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or MBA preferred
  • 2+ years of product management and business development experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in the interconnect industry preferred
  • Ability to lead global cross-functional teams and bridge functional/organizational gaps
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to lead and navigate dynamic environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with global and multicultural teams in marketing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, vendors, and customers
  • Strong technical aptitude combined with business acumen
  • Ability to influence change in thought and behavior across all functions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products such as Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
