The Kleingers Group is looking for a driven, established transportation engineer to join us as our Columbus Transportation Group Leader.

The Role:

The Group Leader will provide leadership to project teams who will be working on planning, evaluation, design and implementation of civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will lead the study-phase and/or design-phase of projects related to the civil, environmental, construction and industrial fields plan, direct and coordinate the development of new civil engineering designs. Responsibilities include leading the research and development stage of projects, creating detailed project plans, and proposing and/or approving budgets, staffing and equipment needs. The Group Leader would constantly have interaction with employees outside of their department, constantly have interaction with clients, constantly interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.), and frequently participate in selling to clients, and is constantly expected to engage in business development and client retention efforts The group leader is expected to manage assigned P&L of a Project, while being an example of professional presence, representing the Company and the department in a positive light, and have intermediate level of software knowledge of at least one (1) engineering software package. A Professional Engineering license is required for this role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering
  • 8+ years of consecutive transportation experience
  • 4+ years of experience managing transportation projects
  • Ohio PE Required
  • Ability to win and manage transportation design projects
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • BSCE from an ABET accredited College or University required
  • Ability to lead a transportation design team with minimal oversight

Responsibilities:

  • Project management planning, monitoring and implementation
  • Lead roadway business development and client interface
  • Lead proposal preparation including development of scope, schedule and fee negotiation
  • Build transportation team to complete awarded projects
  • Ability to manage project teams
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedule; address scheduling problems when they occur
  • Lead engineering design for roadway projects
  • Oversee project costs
  • Perform roadway grading and drainage, utility design, storm sewer design and storm water management calculations
  • Take project from due diligence through construction
  • Coordinate execution of projects with our staff, our clients and our project team members
  • Business Development Tasks
    • Lead Generation
      • Accountable for developing strategy target companies and public agencies, conducting introductory meetings and presentations.
      • Responsible for developing group strategy and key target development.
    • Prospects
      • Accountable for pursuing qualified referrals, introducing the company and getting interest from leads.
      • Responsible for networking event attendance, industry/corporate memberships, CRM activity tracking, following up with repeat/current clients.
    • Project/Client Opportunities
      • Accountable for representation of the company at project interviews, kickoff meetings, and strategic planning client meetings.
      • Accountable for proposals, requests for quotes (RFQ), statement of qualifications (SOQ).
      • Responsible for go/no-go completion.
      • Responsible for forming strategic partnerships.
    • Marketing Initiatives and Activities
      • Adherence to all marketing initiative and activity standards.
    • Project Closeout
      • Execution of Project Closeout Activities.
