Salary: $15.00-$17.00

Job Summary:
The Dishwasher’s primary objective is to provide a clean and safe kitchen area for our community staff.
The Dishwasher is responsible for the actual operation of the commercial dishwasher and the cleaning of
all tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment. The employee should be available to occasionally rotate
to other culinary positions within the department when necessary.


Employment Relationship:
This position is “at will” position and the employee and employer are free to sever the relationship at any
time with or without cause. A minimum of 14-day notice of the intent to resign is requested for this
position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The employee must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable
accommodations. Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this
position:
a) Load, run and unload dish machine.
b) Monitor dish machine water temperature and detergent/sanitizer/chemical levels to ensure sanitary
wash cycle.
c) Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems to the Culinary
Director immediately.
d) Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
e) Properly wash, sanitize and store all tableware and kitchenware. Handle tableware carefully to
prevent breakage and loss.
f) Maintain appropriate level of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
g) Restock all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans.
h) Break down, clean and sanitize the dish machine at the end of the shift.
i) Bag and haul kitchen trash to designated area.
j) Follow established reporting procedures for the following: supplies or equipment needs; any
damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair; any unsafe or
malfunctioning equipment; any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
k) Comply and understand all OSHA-SDS and procedures. Follow defined Infection Control procedures.
l) Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual
emergencies.
m) Be knowledgeable of Federal, State, and Facility’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
n) Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta
cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
o) Keep dish room and food preparation areas clan and organized as required.
p) Report concerns or observations about residents to supervisor.

r) Operate kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine,
blender, food processor, meat slicer, mixer, etc.). Practice safety in working with and around kitchen
equipment.
s) Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and
visitors.
t) Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community
operations and personnel.
u) Must maintain personal hygiene in accordance to OSHA regulations.
v) Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
w) Able to understand and to follow written and verbal directions. Able to effectively communicate with
staff members and residents through verbal and/or written means. Demonstrates ability to prioritize
tasks/responsibilities and complete duties/projects within allotted time.
x) Knowledge of emergency disaster procedures of community. Able to locate nearest exit, to
understand and respond to written or oral instruction in case of emergency. Working knowledge and
ability to comply with community policies and procedures for workplace safety. Sufficient mobility
and strength to move freely through the building, to assure resident safety at all times and to assist,
transfer or otherwise move residents of the community out of danger in case of emergency.
y) Demonstrate respect for co-workers and respond to needs of residents by complying with
community policies on attendance, punctuality and dress code. Able to arrive and begin work on
time and to report for duty as scheduled on all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and
holidays. Attend all in-services, safety meetings, staff meetings and/or other meetings as called upon.
Able to adjust work schedule according to the resident needs due to calendared events.
z) Adaptability and flexibility in dealing with challenging or emergency situations, and ability to remain
calm when dealing with residents and their family members, with a positive and pleasant manner
and kind tone of voice.


Additional Responsibilities:
Employee must have a great personality and enjoy working with seniors. Employee must be patient,
caring and have the ability to do task at a slower pace in order to accommodate all residents’ needs.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
a) Age 16 or older.
b) Maintain current First Aid and Food Handlers certification.
c) Knowledge of basic sanitary guidelines.
d) Able to operate dish machines to community and manufacturer specifications.
e) Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English Language.


Physical Requirements of the Job:
The employee should be able to work in hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time.
Speaking and hearing required to perform job responsibilities; reading/writing; understand directions and
communicate verbally. Specific vision abilities required include color, close and far vision acuity, depth
perception and ability to adjust vision focus. Employee must have the ability to climb, balance, kneel,
crouch, reach, walk, sit, lift, grasp, perform repetitive motions involving bending, twisting, stooping,
pushing, pulling, wrist motions and foot operations; be able to work in standing position for extended
period of time (entire shift) without significant rest period. Employee will be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
