Roaster - 35 Degrees North Coffee

Must have current/valid Food Handler Certification

Must have Valid/Current Identification Documents to work in the United States of America

1 + years experience as a Roaster preferred.

Must have availability to work shifts including evenings from 3pm to midnight and occasionally a Saturday or Sunday. Barista shifts cover a variety of hours from 7am to 7pm including weekends and holidays.

Position Summary: The Roaster is enthusiastic and eager to learn the craft while possessing a high level of integrity and attention to detail. Job expectations include the ability to provide exemplary customer service, a comprehensive understanding of barista skills and coffee craft, sales ability and a positive outlook. The Roaster must possess a discerning palate linked to common coffee nomenclature. Our Roaster will also perform duties as a Barista.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

• Understand all aspects of the coffee roasting process and perform operations safely
• Monitor each roast to ensure consistency and quality
• Record amounts, types and blends of coffee beans roasted
• Package beans for wholesale and retail operations
• Perform all routine maintenance checks to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely
• Maintain a professional work area, including superior sanitation and cleanliness standards
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality controls
• Additional Barista duties
  • Welcome guests, offer information about menu items, answer questions, accept orders and payments
  • Make and serve specialty coffee and tea beverages
  • Ongoing learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation and presentation techniques to ensure food quality and service
  • Update signage and displays to attract guests
  • Follow cash handling and payment procedures

• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use POS systems
• Ability to arrive on-time and work shifts as scheduled
• Must have, and maintain, a New Mexico Food Handler permit
