Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License and Current Auto Insurance
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment driver record, criminal, adult and child abuse background check/review required

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Volunteer functions encompass those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that are critical and fundamental to the volunteer position and comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives.
  • Assists team with patient care in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Provides needed services to patients/families and as outlined in the Hospice Volunteer Handbook (e.g. companionship, shopping, respite, etc.)
  • Makes a time commitment of 2-4 hours each week as schedule permits.
  • Provides notification when a substitute is needed.
  • Uses listening skills effectively to provide emotional support to the patient/family.
  • Reports and/or records any changes in the patient's condition or environment to the Hospice Volunteer Services Coordinator, case manager, or other appropriate team member.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and objective documentation of volunteer activity.
  • Submits annual mandatory paper to maintain active status as a volunteer.
  • Attends scheduled rehearsals and assigned bed-side or community presentations (if applicable)
  • Is able to demonstrate competency requirements and attends educational in-services and workshops as schedule permits.
  • Accountable for and expected to integrate VNAHSR's HEALTH Matters values into the execution of the essential functions of their volunteer work.
