West River Mental Health is accepting applications for a RN/LPN or Paramedic. These positions coordinate the medical treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to identified clients at the program. Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals in our programs. Support clients in access to natural resources and support system and allow for a more seamless transition to community-based resources and support. Wages starting between $22-$30

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide case management services to clients by providing the following services. Participate in the medical treatment planning and monitoring progress towards goals and objectives. Assist in locating, coordinating and monitoring medical, social and psychiatric services. Document and notify all staff of changes in client’s status. Provide emergency services when the client is in crisis.
  2. Provide symptom assessment and management, when clinically appropriate.
  3. Assist with administration of prescription and nonprescription medication.
  4. Instruct clients in the act of self-administration of prescription and nonprescription medication.
  5. Provide or coordinate staff training for CPR, first aid, medication management and infection control.
  6. Develops, maintains and monitors procedures and practices for administering and storage of medications.
  7. Document client activity in chart as required by company operating procedure.
  8. Provide direct assistance or referral to appropriate provider to ensure client obtains the basic necessities of daily life, performs basic daily living activities and develops social skills.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Thorough knowledge of medical protocols as it relates to mental illness.
  2. Knowledge of community resources.
  3. Knowledge of and skill in using computer keyboard for typing.
  4. Knowledge of and skill in administering CPR, first aid and medication management.
  5. Ability to enter a variety of buildings including, but not limited to, court systems, public service agencies, client homes, which may involve climbing or descending from multiple levels.
  6. Ability to respond to clients by phone and face to face in emergency situations.
  7. Ability to interact professionally with clients and customers.
  8. Ability to sit to type on computer keyboard for short to moderate lengths of time.
  9. Ability to maintain a South Dakota driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance and safely operate a vehicle in all weather conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

RN, LPN, or Paramedic Certification in the State of South Dakota.
