Aerospace Metallography Inspector 

1st shift (Mon-Fri 7-3:30) 

 

The Metallography Inspector will be responsible for conducting mounting, measuring, evaluation, and documentation of samples generated during the plating process per manufacturing tech plan, customer's specifications, and requirements using various types of inspection equipment. 

 

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Cut, mount and evaluate all coupons and metallurgic samples provided by the plating process. 
  • Perform detailed evaluation and measurement on samples to assure compliance with the company's Quality System, Specifications and Customer requirements for Aerospace products. 
  • Document inspection results in accordance with company procedures, manufacturing plan, and any additional work instructions. 
  • Inspect metallographic mounted samples in accordance with drawings, customer requirements, and technical plans and internal work instructions. 
  • Operate appropriate inspection equipment or methods to verify conformance to requirements. 
  • Document non-conformances detected during inspection. 
  • Review data package traceability (material certifications, inspection reports, test  
  • Verify all operations required by the manufacturing plan are complete and properly signed off. 
  • Completion of any special customer required forms or data package requirements. 
  • Contribute to the continued adherence to AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and other customer and regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist quality inspectors with incoming inspections and packaging of completed parts. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • At least 6 months' experience working in inspection. 
  • Must be able to use inspection tools and interpret blueprints, specifications, and certifications to verify product conformity. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Metallographic sample evaluation and documentation. 
  • Experience in Aerospace, Military/Defense, or Automotive manufacturing inspection. 
  • Familiar with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, and NADCAP requirements. 
  • Previous training experience.
