Behavioral Health Technician - Floater

 

Reports to: Executive Director or Milieu Manager

Job Category: Hourly | Non-Exempt | Full-Time | Part-Time | PRN

Starting Salary: $26.25/hour (pay is dependent on applicant’s experience and relevant certifications/licenses obtained)

Job Site: Foundry - Ranch | Steamboat Springs


Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician assists with providing direct patient care and helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services fields preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of customer service or behavioral health experience preferred.
  • EMT, CNA, CMA preferred but not required.
  • QMAP preferred but not required.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must be available to work any shift throughout the week with the potential to work the same shift (e.g. overnight) for extended periods of time.
  • Cover needed shifts on short notice.
  • Proficient in each shifts' responsibilities (1st, 2nd, overnight).
  • Ability to provide outstanding client service and care with compassion and discretion.
  • Impeccable ethics and integrity.
  • Valid, non-restricted Driver's License.
  • Must have a plan to obtain Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to gain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction, make sound decisions, and use best judgment in various situations.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s EMR system.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist clinical, admissions, administrative, and medical teams.
  • Assist a diverse population of clients with cultural sensitivity, dignity, and respect.
  • Display constant awareness ensuring milieu management is in line with the company’s mission statement, policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain a safe, comfortable, and client-focused treatment environment by using therapeutic skills.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality, HIPAA, and 42CFR Part 2 compliance. 
  • Adhere to facility policy and procedures, State & Federal law, and accrediting agency regulations and standards.
  • Complete all duties assigned to the shift.
  • Coordinate and assist with all activities, including monitoring attendance and safety while offering support/observation. 
  • Provide activity and appointment transportation for clients.
  • Monitor and record observations of clients, document concise notes in Electronic Medical Records and communication systems within times determined by company policies.
  • Administer Urinalysis (UA) or Breath Alcohol (BA) tests as needed and document appropriately.
  • Carry out CIWA, COWS and Vitals.
  • Monitor and/or administer medications, answer questions regarding medications and use discretion with PRN requests.
  • Conduct medication counts. 
  • Identify emergency signals and situations and respond appropriately.
  • Participate in shift exchange, discussing any pertinent changes in the clients’ status (clinical, medical, behavioral, etc.). 
  • Attend all required meetings and acknowledge responsibilities for company mission, policies and procedures.


Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to maneuver uneven terrain to access various on-site buildings.
  • Sit, walk, bend, reach, climb steps.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
