The City of Woodstock is a charming historic community of 25,630, located 55 miles northwest of Chicago on Metra rail. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Woodstock is a community unlike any other boasting historic 19th century buildings, dining, entertainment, accommodations, specialty shops, professional services, art galleries, and live theater. The City employs approximately 345 (full-time, part-time, and seasonal) employees in a variety of departments within the organization, such as Office of the City Manager, Building & Zoning, Economic Development, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing & Communications, Opera House, Police, Public Library, Public Works, and Recreation. POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to provide maintenance, diagnosis, and repair engines and equipment within the City's fleet; position also responsible for maintaining a safe and clean shop environment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Internal Services Supervisor.

Regular Days/Hours for Position: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Vocational diploma in automotive, heavy equipment or diesel repair with a minimum of three (3) years mechanical repair experience; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • A valid Illinois Class A commercial driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements with acceptable driving record for eligibility of City coverage. If this requirement is not met upon hire, the Class B CDL must be obtained within the designated time period.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in Public Works, construction, or landscaping fleet repair.
  • Automotive, Diesel, or Industrial dealership experience.

SALARY:

Starting salary rate: $29.33 per hour in accordance with Union contract. Position includes eligibility for full benefits package of group health insurance, benefit time, and IMRF retirement plan.
