Job Description: Hotel General Manager – Focused Service

Job Type: Full-time

Job Profile Summary:

The General Manager is critical in managing the day-to-day hotel operations and providing leadership to ensure exceptional guest service, financial profitability, and employee satisfaction. This role involves overseeing departmental budgets, sales, and marketing plans, quality assurance, profit and loss statement, and monitoring performance to meet or exceed targets. The General Manager will recruit, train, and develop departmental personnel, setting high performance standards. A strong focus on customer service, developing business relationships, and maintaining professionalism is essential. This role involves handling confidential information, necessitating discretion and data security.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

- Uphold standards of Spark Hudson and the Brand.

- Comply with all applicable laws and ordinances.

- Adhere to safety and emergency policies.

- Engage with guests and customers to enhance their experience.

- Oversee departmental budgets, sales, and marketing strategies.

- Coordinate events and group activities, aligning with departmental services.

- Monitor and analyze competitive set data to inform business strategies.

- Achieve financial targets (GOP, RevPar, ADR).

- Implement sales and revenue strategies.

- Manage property improvements and projects.

- Ensure high guest satisfaction scores.

- Maintain quality assurance standards.

- Record and report incidents and non-injury related occurrences.

- Regularly inspect the property to ensure standards are met.

- Cultivate business relationships and participate in local events.

- Recruit, train, and manage personnel.

- Manage labor and payroll costs.

- Oversee accounts receivable and financial transactions.

- Follow the Company's preventative maintenance program.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Professional demeanor and appearance.

- Proficient in technology and software (MS Office, PMS, POS).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingualism is a plus.

- Understanding of hotel operations and financials.

- Willingness to attend and complete relevant training; some travel required.

- Ability to obtain necessary permits (ServSafe/Food handler).

- Able to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.

- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

- 3+ years of hospitality/hotel management experience; Assistant General Manager experience preferred.

- Hold General Manager Certification for the Brand or achieve certification within the first 60 days of employment.

- Solid experience with Opera or similar Property Management Systems

- Knowledge of STR Reports.

- High School Diploma; college degree preferred.

 

Additional Requirements:

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong organizational skills and sense of urgency.

- Ability to complete/delegate month-end paperwork and bi-weekly payroll.

- Promote guest and associate satisfaction.

- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

- Resolve guest-related issues in line with company objectives.

- Communicate corporate and brand policies to staff.

- Conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.

- Manage financial acumen and control expenses.

- Work in collaboration with the Director of Sales on revenue objectives.

- Engage in local market business development.

- Prepare monthly Owner’s report and attend monthly asset manager meetings to explain prior month results.

Note: This position is not remote and requires physical presence at the hotel to interact with the team and guests.
