General Superintendent – General Construction

Highland Consulting Group is a national executive search firm that specializes in recruiting top construction talent.

We are working with a large regional General Contractor that is recruiting for a well experienced General Superintendents in Columbus, OH. This is a very successful company that is well respected and has a large backlog of projects and isn’t slowing down for years to come. All projects are regional to this market and little to no travel is expected. This is a permanent role that has strong growth opportunities. Since the projects are larger in scale the projects tend to have larger management teams onsite and are well supported. This is a key position that needs to be aggressively filled and the compensation & benefits for this position are well above average for the industry.

Successful candidates must have a minimum of 10 years experience as a Superintendent working on large complicated Commercial, Institutional, Public & Industrial projects over $50 Million in value.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Safety Manager to create a safe work site
  • Coordinate / manage site Superintendents
  • Coordinate everyday task involved in the construction process
  • Schedule crews and subcontractors
  • Arrange for material and equipment to be on site as needed
  • Work with the foremen to coordinate the daily production plan
  • Oversee quality control
  • Daily reporting of all work completed
  • Provide technical expertise and coaching to resolve and production issues and verifying the execution of corrective actions
  • Work to keep the project on schedule, meet the specifications, keep the project safe, and meet the expectations of the Project Manager
  • Interface with the owner on all projects assigned

Requirements:

  • Solid Communication both verbal and written
  • Ability to motivate people to be productive and efficient everyday
  • Ability to multi-task
  • A self-motivated individual that excels in problem solving
  • Solid, proven and verifiable record of career stability and superintendent success a must
  • Experience: 10 years experience as a Superintendent on projects larger than $50 Million
  • Experience working with large Medical / Healthcare / Schools / Laboratory facilities, Commercial, and Public projects
  • MEP experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management recommended. Our client will consider candidates with sufficient related experience
