Job Description

The Teacher’s Aide is responsible for assisting in the day to day classroom procedures. This includes the establishment of a positive environment for the employees, students and family members.

Essential Duties

Including, but not limited to the following:

Be responsible for assisting in maintaining order among children.

Take prompt, positive helpful action with the children who misuse materials; show lack of respect for the other children; need assistance in eating or with personal belongings, need love, affection or reassurance; need other individual action

Receive all children at the door when they arrive for the day and say good-bye when they leave at the end of the day. Call each child by name, assist them with putting away their personal belongings in the proper place, and involve them I classroom activities. Assist parents with the sign in and out as needed.

Assist with lunch, snacks, naps and all activities done by children. Help the children replace the materials when projects are completed.

Assist children with coats, mittens and wraps for outdoor activities.

Follow the disciplinary guidelines outlined in the Employee handbook and as directed by your supervisor.

Care of the child is your foremost responsibility. Use your time with the children to the best of your advantage. Excessive talking withthe other staff or use of your cell phone do not lend to good supervision of the children.

Assist in the care and cleanliness of the center.

Maintain health regulations for staff and children as descripted in the Employee Handbook.

Keep lines of communication open with your supervisor and other staff.. Work with other staff to make the program the best possible for the children. Incorporate your own special skills into the class schedule.

Have good knowledge and understanding of the information and guidelines provided in the Employee handbook. You are responsible to conduct yourself in a manner that meets professional standards.

Responsible for assisting the Montessori teacher with planning of daily curriculum activities, art projects, learning environments
and special activities (field trips and speakers).

Develop a general understanding for the Montessori philosophy.

Responsible for assisting in opening or closing of the center and general opening or closing duties.

Responsible for maintaining order among the children when the teacher is involved in presentation or not present in classroom.

Responsible for classroom and center in absence of teacher.

Travel

No travel is required for this position.

Required Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma, GED certificate, some college.

2. Strong written and oral communication skills.

3. Knowledge of classroom management.

4. Must be qualified per licensing rule 3.

Preferred Education and Experience (not required)

1. Associates, Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in
Education.

2. Montessori Certification

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. A desire and ability to work with young children

2. Willingness to learn, and develop, an on-going bridge between school and community Your job duties include the above statements but are not limited to them. You will be under the direct supervision of the Center Manager and must follow the guidelines established by the manager for your particular center.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional environment. This job
routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, , filing
cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demand

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and required
standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position type and Hours

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:30am and 6:00pm. Work days/hours subject to change based on Miniapple needs in order to accommodate staff/child ratios per State of MN Rule 3.
