JOB SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager spearheads all aspects of the Columbus, OH facility, ensuring a seamless flow of goods – from receiving and assembly to shipping – within a safe and productive work environment that fosters superior quality and productivity.
Position reports to the Chief Financial Officer located in New Jersey.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads and supervises all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring efficient performance across planning, scheduling, on-time delivery, quality, and safety.
- Partners and collaborates with cross-functional departmental leaders and team members (onsite and remote) to drive continuous improvements that elevate overall customer experience.
- Customer-focused mindset yet balances that with effective operations management.
- Sets the example for subordinates in terms of work ethic and accountability.
- Drives continuous improvement in all facets of the operation. Makes time for proper staff training.
- Is the local HR resource. Responsible for all hiring, advancements, terminations, and the like. Coordinates with temporary labor agencies as needed.
- Considers inventory management a vital responsibility. Data integrity is crucial as it impacts many functional areas.
- Seeks to manage from a position of strength via in-depth knowledge of ERP systems and distribution best practices.
- Sets goals and measures results via targeted KPI’s that are effectively communicated organization wide.
- Maintain facility in good working order. Coordinates with outside services or property owner as required.
- Supports the concept of 5S and maintains an orderly work environment that is conducive to safety and productivity.
- Primary interface for site security alarm services and ensures recordings are being properly recorded at all times.
- Coordinates pest control, water testing, landscaping, fire dept., facility inspections, trash removal, propane delivery and storage, etc.
- Schedules preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with supplier recommendations. MHE, Compressors, etc.
- Maintains a safety and security-first work environment. Secures location from intrusion or theft.
- Ensures exterior of site is free of trash, well organized and dumpster area secure
- Acts as facility safety coordinator (training operators on lift safety, monitoring seat belt compliance, alerting supervisors to unsafe acts, etc.) and always maintains OSHA compliance.
Skills and Specifications
- Prior warehouse or manufacturing management experience.
- Willingness and desire to be very hands-on and be omni-present throughout the facility.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.
- Strong team player who is willing to help others be successful.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting and coordinating work within the departments of the entire organization.
- Confidently conducts facility tours for customers and external stakeholders, showcasing company capabilities.
- Possesses solid mathematical, financial, and analytical abilities and KPI development experience.
- Facilities management experience concerning Maintenance, Janitorial, Vendor relations, etc.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mid to upper-management role.
- Bi-lingual English / Spanish is considered beneficial, but not required.
- Demonstrated systems experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and ERP/ WMS solutions. Microsoft Business Central ERP experience Preferred.
