Who we're looking for

Toyota's Production Engineering Battery Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Seibi (Maintenance Engineering Technician) Technician.

The primary responsibility of this position is to execute as the North American machine set up personnel (SV) and increase Operation Availability (OA) through continuous improvement and problem-solving technical issues. This role will also support the Battery department's objective to execute Capital Projects from planning thru Start of Production (SOP).

This position will be located at TBMNC in Liberty, NC and will report to the Seibi Manager for Battery.

This person must be able to navigate complex problem solving at the regional level. A successful candidate must be effective at identifying and removing barriers that hinder progress, able to decide appropriate work priorities, develop and execute schedule for said priorities, and report their status to management group.

What you'll be doing

  • Test and repair electrical equipment or systems (Involving circuits, relay logic, wiring, motors, servo drives, etc.).
  • Strong ability to write, program, troubleshoot, modify, and/or repair programmable logic controllers, robotics, cameras, and other electronic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair safety systems and machine components, hydraulic and pneumatic.
  • Plan and execute machine integration into mass production, leveling, adjustment, and quality conformation for assigned work areas.
  • Perform basic administrative skills including documentation of work performed by written/electronic methods.
  • Ability to problem solve and continuously improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Develop denwacho (detail schedule) for assigned work area/ project.
  • Participate in project planning with Engineering.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new processes.
  • Support Machine production trials at vendors and internal to Toyota.
  • Certify the Safety of Equipment per MMR/MMS (NFPA79 and ISO standards) via "Safety Integrity Check".


What you bring

  • Industrial Maintenance experience.
  • Experience with Electrical and/or mechanical systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Technical experience with PLCs including programming, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Technical experience with Servo Motion Controllers.
  • Technical experience with relay logic including wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Technical experience with Robotics including programming, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with CNC programming and interpretation of code.
  • Experience with Hydraulic/Pneumatic configurations and interpretation of drawings.
  • Available to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and shutdowns.
  • Ability for business travel, both domestic and international - up to 30%.


Added bonus if you have

  • Technical associate degree or higher or equivalent training such as vocational certificate or similar.
  • Machine Safety Fundamental Course completion (TUV or similar).
  • Experience with Production Processes including Standardized Work (STW) and Job Instruction Sheets (JIS).
  • Experience gathering and analyzing quality data from multiple sources such as CMM reports, Adcole, or similar.
  • New plant or facility startup experience.
  • Experience with high-volume production in a clean room environment.
