The Norristown State Hospital, a mental health facility, is actively seeking a Staff Physician 2 to provide leadership in planning, directing, and implementing medical services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Staff Physician 2, you will render professional medical care and treatment of the family practice type to the patients assigned. In this role, you will provide backup coverage for other physicians and be responsible for the medical supervision of assigned buildings and work in conjunction with other physicians, registered nurses, nursing assistants, and other professional personnel. In this role, you will perform physical examinations, ward rounds, and sick calls, as well as make decisions regarding patients who need to be admitted to an outside hospital. You will also perform medical consultative services and provide medical and surgical pre and post-operative care. In addition, you will provide preventive health care services to assigned patients as appropriate to their age and gender and follow chronic conditions of assigned patients.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. May change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime: As needed
  • Travel: As needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:

  • Three years of experience and/or training in the practice of medicine.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Medicine Board, or the State Osteopathic Medicine Board.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
