Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.

NSQ's:

  1. Completed a background check in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
  2. Possess a valid driver's license.
  3. Be able to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Summary

Under immediate supervision, this classification is responsible for performing direct care work of routine difficulty and perform related work as required. This is the working level in the IDD direct care series. An employee in this classification works at a community home providing direct care for intellectually and developmentally disabled people. This class differs from a IDD Home Manager in that the incumbent of the latter supervises this classification and is responsible for managing a community home.

Responsibilities

  1. Implements Person Centered Support Plans as written by the person served and their support system.
  2. Maintains personal property of people supported including, but not limited to, assessing the condition of the property, and helping persons make decisions on what they want to do with their property when they no longer need or want it.
  3. Utilizes the Edison System for training, time keeping, benefits, and employee information.
  4. Utilizes custom positioning equipment as outlined in person-centered support plans.
  5. Utilizes standard appliances and equipment such as, but not limited to: Microwave, Range with Oven, Dishwasher, Washer and Dryer, Bathing Equipment, and Mechanical Lifts.
  6. Maintains ICF/IID and/or residential home in a safe manner by cleaning routinely, checking on equipment and furniture to ensure things are in good working order, and keeping exits free from blockage for safe evacuations.
  7. Plans for emergencies to ensure persons supported remain safe and practices safety drills routinely to ensure safety of persons supported at all times.
  8. Performs Person Centered Care for persons supported including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, active treatment inside and outside of the home, and other person focused care.
  9. Effectively communicates with internal and external Customers.
  10. Ensures supplies are adequately stocked to support people supported.
  11. Completes training assigned within stated timelines.
