Position:

VanZandt Controls and Eagle Automation has an opening for a Board Repair Technician Intern to capitalize on the capabilities and success of a strong team in the fast-paced market of New Mexico. Position is based at our Farmington, NM location. The candidate will be responsible for duties which include, but are not limited to:

Learning and assisting in the repair of circuit boards, learning and assisting in the design and building of jigs, communicating repair timelines to customers, inventory management, assisting with and adhering to the board repair operational procedures (ex: antistatic policies, workstation presentation, cleaning requirements, etc.), manage day to day workloads assigned to you, assist walk-in warehouse customers as needed and helping to develop those relationships, and effectively communicating with operations and inside support. In learning all areas of the board repair services, you will be required to help with logging in boards from customers, entering work tickets and converting those tickets into sales orders then processing the shipment of the boards back to the customers. Basic soldering skills are required for the position.

Ideal intern candidate would have an opportunity to learn the following from our senior technician(s):

  • Research and develop new diagnostic procedure for new and existing electronic boards.
  • Provide on site troubleshooting and calibration of various measurement devices for customers in the field.
  • Maintain healthy relationships with customers with quality customer care.
  • Troubleshoot various electronic boards and repair using factory quality components.
  • Maintain repair facility and equipment ensuring the best practices for quality troubleshooting/repair is conducted.
  • Conduct surface mount and through hole component replacement
  • Research and develop new diagnostic practices on new electronic boards.
  • Research and compare components using component data sheets to find alternative compatible parts
  • Used common electronic equipment to aid troubleshooting; digital multimeter (fluke), oscilloscope, variable DC power supply, RF generator and receiver, thermal camera.
  • Read and comprehend detailed electrical schematics

Experience:

  • Electrical/mechanically inclined
  • A desire to learn how to repair circuit boards
  • Able to accept and retain training and learn new skills
  • Basic soldering skill knowledge is required

Hours:

M-F: 6am-3pm (hours are approximate, and subject to change based on business needs)
