Position Summary:

Performs and instructs a variety of Histology procedures on specimens from patients of all ages as defined by CMS-2226-F: 42 CFR 493 Medicare, Medicaid, and CLIA programs, Interpretive Guidelines for Laboratories, Appendix C, and Subpart M..  Applies principles, theories, and techniques according to Laboratory Practices and Histological procedures to produce accurate , high quality specimen preparation of Histological samples.

·         Associate Degree or near completion in chemical, biological, or physical science. Degree must be completed within 2 years of employment.

·         Completed one year of technical training in a Histology Technical Training Program approved by

·         ABHS, CAHEA or other organizations approved by HHS.

·         Current certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or eligible for (ASCP) certification exam. Successful completion of certification within 12 months of

·         employment.

·         Ability to meet patient age specific needs (from neonate to geriatric)

·         Ability to follow procedures concisely and accurately at all times under the direction of the Histology Manager.

·         Skilled at communication.

·         Ability to recognize problems and perform minor problem solving.

·         Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

·         Ability to successfully meet deadlines.
