Heavy Equipment Operator - IHS Metals Recycling

I H S Metals Recycling is seeking an experienced equipment operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a grapple to lift, move, and position loads in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will have experience operating grapples or material handlers (dozers, excavators, etc.) in a variety of settings, including construction sites, warehouses, and industrial plants. We are looking for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and has a strong understanding of safety protocols.

Role

·        Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with training and manufacturer's instruction

·        Perform pre-shift safety inspection on the vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories to ensure no damages or malfunctions to the               equipment

·        Report needed repairs to supervision

·        Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment

·        Assist with operation of other equipment as needed

·        Adhere to OSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations

·        Perform duties with minimum supervision

·        Perform routine maintenance on crane

·        Load and unload materials from crane

·        Communicate with other workers to ensure proper placement of materials.

·        Helps unload customer vehicles, loads trailers, roll off boxes, keeps the yard clean, identifies & buys ferrous & non-ferrous materials,              runs forklift, etc.

Qualifications

·        Must be able to work possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed

·        Must be able to read equipment operating manual

·        Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report

·        Must be able to read and interpret gauges

·        Must be able to wear all required safety equipment

·        Must have the physical abilities to perform the daily functions

·        Ability to operate a magnetic grapple is a plus
