Dietary Aide - Culinary Staff

THE ORGANIZATION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dietary Aide completes daily tasks related to maintenance of dining room facilities and cleanliness and stocking of the salad bar and auxiliary locations. Assists in preparation of and service of meals, and provides support to the kitchen staff in the area of cleanliness and sanitation. Meets all goals set by the Director of Food Service for safe food handling, cleanliness, quality, and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Dining Room Maintenance

• Provides daily cleaning and maintenance of dining room, organizing and refreshing beverage equipment and supplies, as well as refreshing of condiments, fresh fruit and snacks.
• Sets up/breaks down, stocks, and maintains the salad bar, including related food preparation and rotation.
• Raises any issues or problems to the Lead Dietary Aide

Auxiliary Location Stocking

• Delivers and stocks nourishments and related supplies in resident housing areas of Noble, Skips, and Carpenter Halls, as well as the Bantle Board Room.

Meal Service Assistance

• Assists in daily service of meals to patients, staff and visitors.
• Ensures those on special diets receive correct food items and processes hold-back requests for staff

Cleanliness and Hygiene

• Employs health department standards on cleanliness and hygiene

Overall Kitchen Support

• Contributes to the daily functions of the kitchen and assists in the production of meals.
• Cleans and organizes work areas at the conclusion of each meal.
• Cleans and sanitizes kitchen food prep area, dishes, and dish room.
• Cleans and sanitizes dish machine and other equipment and tools, and informs management of any needed replacements/repairs.
• May assist with catering activities as needed.

Customer Service

• Provides exceptional customer service to Ashley patients, employees and visitors. Immediately resolves and/or reports any complaints to the Dietary Aide/Lead

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR TRAINING COORDINATOR:

• High School or equivalent basic education;
• Minimal experience as dining room attendant
• Understand and follow verbal directions; answer questions patients have.
• Basic mathematical skills
• Follow infection control procedures and safety standards.
• Basic computer skills (web and email).
