West Springfield Police Department Now Hiring Police Officers 4 Vacancies Anticipated for Fall/Winter 2024 Police Academy West Springfield Police Department is accepting applications to fill 4 anticipated vacancies. Selected candidates could begin the Police Academy in Fall/Winter 2024 (exact month TBD). To apply applicants must pass the newly formed MCOPA/PoliceApp written test and the MA CHIP Physical Fitness Test. Results from these two tests qualify candidates for other departments as well. Testing: Applicants Must Take and Pass in order to apply: Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association Witten Examination CHIP Physical Fitness Test based on the MPTC Fitness Standards. Minimum Requirements Be a United States citizen; Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment; Must have and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license; Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent; Must have or be able to obtain a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms, “LTC” Residency requirement - You must reside in Massachusetts and within 17 miles of the boundaries of West Springfield within (6) months from the date of your graduation from the Police Academy. Compensation and Benefits Starting hourly $27.50 FY2023, $28.44 effective July 1, 2024 and $31.75 upon completion of one year probationary period Additional Benefits Include: Educational incentive 4 and 2 schedule Health, dental, and vision insurance Application Process: Prior to appointment, candidates are subject to: Extensive background check Psychological examination Medical examination Interview with the West Springfield Public Safety Commission Candidates will also be required to pass the MPTC fitness test. Upon appointment, candidates will be required to attend and successfully complete a MPTC Academy Applicants with a MPTC Academy certification or POST certification will also be accepted and reviewed for possible appointment after the above requirements are completed.
