Food Service Cook Childcare Daycare - Gahanna

Advantage Early Learning Academy is looking for a qualified Food Service Cook. The Food Service Coordinator will work with leadership to develop, establish, and maintain a USDA food program for the child care center.

The Food Service Coordinator plans and prepares balanced snacks and meals while ensuring that any dietary restrictions for individual children are met. He or she ensures that all health and safety standards are met and manages kitchen and food supplies.

Responsibilities:

• Follows the daily menu prepared in conjunction with, or by, the Director, including portion control standards for meal and snack preparation
• Implements changes in menus, if instructed to do so
• Ensures that each meal is ready to be served when scheduled
• Assists with ordering food and is able to calculate the amount needed
• Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe kitchen area at all times, including the proper maintenance of equipment
• Sets tables and helps clean the storage, preparation, and dining areas
• Maintains a professional personal appearance, attitude, and work behavior at all times
• Attends all required staff meetings, workshops, and/or school functions as determined by the Director
• Observes all rules and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children
• Depending on staffing ratios, coordinator may need to assigned to classroom duties
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must meet all requirements stipulated by the state for this position
• Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
• Strong organization skills, able to multitask
• Manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children, stocking, and kitchen maintenance
