We are seeking a caring and compassionate Respiratory Therapist who will provide high quality respiratory care for children and adult residents. Respiratory Therapists at Heinzerling Community have the opportunity to treat our specialized population as part of the best ventilator program for the DD population in Central Ohio. We are growing and advancing our ventilator program using state-of-the-art patient monitoring equipment.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for overseeing respiratory care under the orders of the Medical Director. The RT is also responsible for completion of all documentation, communication, maintenance of respiratory equipment, and continuing training of staff related to respiratory needs of residents, including those receiving ventilator support.

Summary of Duties

  • Provide high quality respiratory therapy services for Heinzerling Community residents utilizing state-of-the-art patient monitoring equipment
  • Manage acute and chronic respiratory care for residents in collaboration with the Medical Director and Nursing team
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of respiratory-related policies and procedures
  • Provide training for staff who are working with residents needing respiratory assistance
  • Assesses knowledge and skills of staff who provide direct respiratory services
  • Develop respiratory-related education for staff and families and train them annually and as needed to ensure competency
  • Evaluate, track, and maintain respiratory-related equipment

Requires

  • Valid Ohio license or permit for practicing Respiratory care
  • Chronic care and experience with ventilators preferred
  • Experience with the Developmental Disabilities population and experience with individuals with highly complex continuous needs is preferred. Must maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid
